Hi,
I'm new in HK and want to get back into yoga a.s.a.p. Is there a really good yoga studio that knows it's stuff?
I'm not interested in gym classes or offers, those instructers offen don't have the proper qualifications and the classes are too large, so no special attention can be given.
Thanks very much.

If you consider Planet Yoga, please contact me. I'm leaving HK soon and willing to transfer the memberhsip at half price.

Thanks, I'll look into it. What are the class sizes like?

The class size I usually attend (non-peak hours) is about 30 people+. The instructors are mostly Indian and well qualified. If you're looking for a small class, I guess Planet Yoga might not be suitable for you. Anyway you can check out more info from its website www.planetyoga.com.hk.

Wow that seems like a lot. I guess it depends on whether that allows the instructor to correct positions or not. I'll check out a class. Thanks for the help.

I went to Yogasana in Wanchai (yogasana.com.hk) for a while - great Ashtanga practice. Small classes - 10 ppl max in the evenings - and great instructors. Not the cheapest place though.
I now go to yogalimbs in Sheung Wan - nothing wring with Yogasana, but I moved. They do Iyengar style, but with some "flow". Very friendly and down-to-earth place. Class size varies from 3(!) to about 15.

Yes, I found their website and Sheung Wan would be convenient. I found another Iyengar studio's website this afternoon, also in Sheung Wan. It looks nice and is privately owned by a Canadian woman who has been instructing for years. Does anyone know about this place? It's called The Iyengar Yoga Centre.

Yes, it says on the website that the teachers study for 3 years to qualify as instructors and have to have completed 3 years attending Iyengar classes before they can even start. Sounds good.

The Studio above Peninsula Hotel is beautiful, top notch facilities, and hygiene.

Thanks, I think I'll do the rounds and see which one suits best but it's always nice to get recommendations.

I go to the Iyengar Yoga Centre in Sheung Wan. Small class sizes and the instructor goes around the class to check postures and to help with any difficulty. I like the fact that I don't have to vacate the room in a hurry so that the next class can come in.

Thanks. I went to the Iyengar centre and it's exactly what I was looking for. You're right, very chilled out but still hard work. A really nice studio space. The instructor was very good and apparently the owner Linda Shevloff runs a lot of the classes but is away examining in Canada for a couple of weeks. Did some Googling, she seems to have a really good reputation.

If you dont mind the trek up to TST I strongly recommend the Life Mgt Yoga Centre (http://www.yoga.org.hk/workshops/).
