Is there such a place out there? A group of us are looking for a place to watch some games but prefer a non-smoking establishment if possible in Central area.
TIA.

What a pity. If there was a smoke-free venue that shows the World Cup I would definitely be there like a shot.

Thanks for the reply.
I've seen a couple of places that have rooms for private groups but it's really more fun to be with a big group of people to enjoy the ups and downs depending on the team they are cheering for!

Pousada at Hebe Haven (Sai Kung) is not smoke free but it is open air and so the effects would not be the same and is showing the world cup matches.
They are also showing the matches at the shopping centre at Hang Hau (next to the MTR station) - huge crowd of locals there last night when I came home - standing room only, and of course no drinking of alcoholic beverages.

Agree Mayafox, blinkensot, LostOne. There is a hge potential client base for non-smoking bars/restaurants, it seems a shame that we have to book a private room and gather a group rather than spontaneously decide to have a drink and watch a match. Works in other parts of the world and apparently the beer tastes much better toob (not a beer drinker so cannot comment). Pumpkin, has it been tried in HK? Your comment that they do not last here implies that it has been tried and has failed.
Out of general interest, when any of you non-smokers go to a restaurant and they do not have a non-smoking section, do you walk out? Just wondering whether or not we are the ones to blame for not speaking with our wallets.

read story on Dublin Jack's:... closed former location due to rental increase (but could also be related to feasibility given publicised lower turnover following smoking ban), now reopening in LKF but will revert back to allowing smoking

It will only work having non smoking venues when the government grows a spine and legislates against smoking in these venues - and not listen to the tripe from the restaurant and entertainment crowd - Australia and other places have smoke free venues and they don't seem to lose too much money - when the playing field is equal is when things will happen.

Personally, I believe in the less government the better and I certainly dont want the government telling people what they can and can't do in a pub. That should be left alone to the pub management themselves.
I mean think about it, this is Hong Kong with a famously pro-business government. I think its simple: let the market decide.

But as non smokers we don't get a choice. We have to put up with the smoke or not go there. Personally most of the time I choose not to go to pubs because of the smoke. Maybe if pubs banned smoking they wouldn't lose money because lots of non smokers like myself would come out of the woodwork and start frquenting them.

I'm as a smoker don't mind to be together with non smokers ;-) however if a restaurant has no seats available in the smoking section I still have my dinner there - but smoke free. I'm tolerant with non smokers :-)

Mid-levels -- thanks for putting up with us non-smokers! Although some of us will still smell bad, lucky for you we don't pose too much of a health risk.

I heard Dublin Jacks had reopened in LKF with half smoking - half non . Anyone know for sure?

I went to Red Bar in IFC last night. You enter through Pure Fitness. All non-smoking inside. Big screen and two or three flat screens. Ladies get a free drink at half time and its a nice place.
GO oranje!
