There have been a lot of threads about learning to drive in HK, but nothing really answers my question. I just failed my UK practical driving test (this morning actually) and don't have to take it again before I leave so I'm looking at taking it in Hong Kong. However there seems to be a lot of information everywhere.
What is the difference between the Part B, Part C or Combined practical tests? Do you apply for your theory at the same time as the practical? Does anyone have any idea roughly what the waiting time is for either of the tests at a test centre on HK island?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but as I understand it, I apply for my learners permit, then the theory and practical tests, sit (and hopefully pass!) them, then apply for the full licence?
Sorry but I'm quite confused. Thanks!

I learned to drive both a car (quite some time ago) and a motorcycle (more recently) in HK, through the HK School of Motoring. As I understand it, passing your theory test is what gives you an learner's permit, which the entitles you to go out on the road, but only with a licenced instructor.
Even if you think you're capable behind the wheel, it would be wise to take a few lessons with an instructor here, so you can get a bit more familiar with how and what they test for here. I'm not sure if the HKSM offers short courses for a case like yours, but I think independant instructors might.
As for test dates, there is a section of the HKSM website that lists next available test dates. Also check out the Transport Department website.

Hope that helps.
