I use an OSIM i-ecology to steam clean my mattress/ carpets. Its a vacuum cleaner that uses water as a filter. Great for general cleaning too.

I used to vaccuum my matress and was disgusted by what came out.... you should turn it every time you change your sheets and vaccuum it.... I also used to ues a hypo alergenic cover. I now have a TEMPUR so all the above things do not apply. But I hope they were of some use ??

Thanks all! I got the Osim i-ecology after I read some reviews, yucky stuff came out of the mattress. I'm glad I've started to vaccum my mattress.

I used to steam clean my mattress with the Osim steam cleaner, but it is very important to let it air dry and keep the dehumidifyer on afterwards otherwise mold can grow as the moisture gets trapped in the mattress. I now just vaccuum with a Miele high power vaccuum. Apparently a shop that sells allergy products says that water based vaccuums can't get rid of dust mites as dust mites bury themselves deep into the mattress. Don't know how true that is.

We air the mattress a bit to make sure its dry before putting on the sheets. Maybe 45mins to an hour.

I used to have a futon-dryer in Japan which came in very handy during rainy seasons. Is there such a thing available in HK????
