Hi,

Has anybody had their wedding dress, or any other complicated dress made at Siriporn in Central?

I would like to get some feedback before giving them any deposit.

thanks

I had a very simple full-length gown made that I wore to the registry office the day before my official wedding along with three bridesmaid's dresses. I thought they did an adequate job -- the dresses were well put together -- but I didn't really feel that they had a good instinct for what I wanted, or how to adjust a gown to suit each individual wearer. The dresses looked very 'stiff' -- much like they were cut from a pattern. My dress was nice, but I would have been disappointed if this had been my only wedding gown.

I had my wedding dress made there and I was very happy with the result. That was six years ago, though, so not sure if anything (other than their location) has changed in that period of time.

Thanks, Mayafox, did you have many fittings with them?

I had about four fittings overall. Each time, they were very helpful and fixed what I asked them to, but this actually turned out to be one of two major problems for me -- I had a clear idea about what I wanted the dress to look like, but I don't know very much about dressmaking, so maybe I was telling them to do things to the dress that wouldn't necessarily suit me. The trouble was that they didn't have the creative confidence to adjust the design so that it was right for me, but perhaps if you had a very clear idea of communicating what you want, you might have better luck?

The second big problem I had with Siriporn was that even though I had a photograph of exactly what I wanted, it still turned out like a rather flat, copied home-made dress, albeit a well-made one. Little things like scrimping on fabric and fewer stitches give away the fact that it was not a hand-crafted, luxurious creation, but something that could be made in a couple of days for a visiting tourist. Anyway, other people who have posted seem to be very happy with their dresses, so maybe I was just being an extra picky bridezilla.

My friend had a wedding dress made there and she was delighted. However from my own experience I have to agree with mayafox, I got an evening dress made and had the same issues. It turned out to be the most unflattering dress ever. I asked them to make certain adjustments and she said no because it would have been "too tight". I'm also not an expert on dress fitting but to me it was still way too loose around the bust and waist and to this day I've never worn it. I've had better dresses made in Shenzhen at a tenth of the price.
