don't worry about the radiation so much if you've flown anywhere its likely there was more radiation absorbed during the flight than an xray. For the comfort of yourseld and child get the xray if your really concerned.

My daughter broke her arm when she was 8 months old. She fell off our bed and then cried for 15 minutes nonstop (which was very unlike her). I took her up to Matilda and our doc there examined her. He didn't think her arm was broken but I told him that she wouldn't attempt crawling on it. He then decided to order x-rays. I held her arm in position as they x-rayed (she didn't like that too much). She had a fracture quite high up on her arm. I took her to an orthopedic specialist the next day. He said that the fracture would heal very quickly and that we didn't have to do anything special for it. She self-limited her movements until it was better (about 10 days if I recall correctly).

My 2 year old had what they call a "green stick" fracture, we found it by having an xray. I think you need to find out what you are dealing with, for my child there was nothing that could be done (no plaster) other than give it time and some panadol to help with the discomfort.

The good news is that children's bones heal so quickly.

Good Luck.

It would be unusual for a baby to have decreased arm movement without an obvious reason. Fractures are possible but unlikely. Seems best to ask a paediatrician to check this out for you.
