It's good news, but I never really understand how petitions are supposed to work.
I mean, if you say to anyone: "sign here if you want cleaner air", or "sign here if you want public transport to be free", they are almost bound to sign: they have no reason NOT to. So how does signing prove that people are serious about an issue?
Of course, if you could get expats to sign: "I am so worried about pollution that I urge the government to levy a special tax on expats and use the proceeds to compensate power station owners whose costs will rise as a result of stricter pollution controls", that would be a different story.

We are putting some specific demands to the government - I am leaving that to Civic Exchange... as you can see from the petition signing indicates you support any reasonable demands we put to the HK govt.
In the bigger picture though we are trying to build awareness for the problem and put pressure on the govt to make some changes...
