When do plane ticket prices change for babies (specifically qantas/Cathay)? ie - is it cheaper to fly with them before they turn 1 year / 2 year etc.

umm we got charged for bubs before then. 20% of adult ticket. Our baby was 3mths when we got charged. Think it also depends on the airline but we just went to UK with Qantas and got charged.

Its 10% of adult fare before age of 2 with no seat and 10kgs allowance. After 2, you must buy a seat and its 75% of the adult fare, full 20kgs allowance. NB The airlines decide the fare that they charge a % of, so if you have an offer fare they may end up paying the same as you.

And if the child's 2nd birthday occurs between the outbound and inbound journey, each airline has a different policy... some charge infant fare (10% of adult) for the roundtrip, some charge child fare (so 67%-75% of adult). Some take the average between the two.
