Lost sim- anyway can use old number?

So I left my phone in a taxi last night and now have to do the infuriating task of tracking numbers down etc. I just wondered if there was anyway I could still have my old number, is there some kind of way of over riding a new sim card with an old number?

If it's a contract SIM (rather than pay-as-you-go), yes you can retain the old number; but they will charge you a fee.



Btw, although it's too late for you this time, you can go to a Smartone store anytime and have your mobile's phonebook copied to disc for a few dollars.

yes, you just tell them the mobile number (if not a pay as your go), and they re-issue a new SIM card for you. At Sunday, I didn't have to pay a dime for it.

Unfortunately it is pay as you go. I spoke to 3 and they said they cannot do it unless I can prove the number is mine???? I just thought a whizz may know how to somehow over ride the number.
