We will soon have OS visitors staying with us and will be doing the tourist sights. We have a 2 and 4 year old, and I'm wondering about the ease (or lack of) of visiting the buddha with small children. Is the only access climbing all the steps (assuming the cable car will still be non operational) or can you walk up somewhere else with a pram? Any advice?
Also, any must see HK sights for visitors (who have never been to Asia before - and will probably be a little shell shocked by the crowds!)
Thanks in advance.

The cable car route is delayed for about two weeks according to yesterdays paper. The cars may be running but they are still fine tuning their computer systems. Even so, it does not take you to the Buddha itself - still have to do the steps - don't fret the kids will probably beat all the adults up there.

you can go around the buddha by the road the buses takes to get up to it and avoid the steps. You will arrive at the back of the buddha. Much easier than the steps with a pram!

If you're feeling flush, there's always a taxi (about $120 I think) or the number 2 bus from Mui Wo.
