My 4 yr old son is thrilled he's getting a sibling. He loves books and I thought it would be great to tell him more about what to expect when the baby comes.

anyone know any good books ?

Thanks

There are couple of 'Big Brother' books you can buy from ShopinHK:

I bought 'I'm a big sister' for my daughter which she loves, so I'm presuming the brother version will be the same.

Thanks happychick. What does your book talk about ? How old is your daughter ?

One thing I found when our second child was born was that people would constantly ask if the oldest was jealous - in front of the oldest child!

I think it's planting the idea into the childs mind, if you hear people suggest it enough then you start to think, perhaps I should be jealous......

Try not to discuss it in front of the children and if someone does ask, I'd always say "He's doing great, yes he loves his new sister"

Ruth's advice is really key. The baby does not care whether visitors are looking at him/her or not, your son will care. He has been the centre of attention for his whole life and suddenly everyone oohs and aahs over this 'new guy'. We had a few tiny gifts wrapped up to give our eldest when friends came to see the baby. We reminded visitors at the door to talk to her first and gave them something to give her. Tiny things, it was just being made a fuss of that mattered.

We gave our daughter a present from the baby and took her to choose one from her to the baby.
