I think you'll find that yesterday's cut-off was to do with 'outsiders' wanting to purchase shares on listing. All eligible pre-demutualisation members (i.e. policyholders mainly) will have had their rights and entitlements settled long ago based on 'membership' at a specified cut-off date (in fact probably membership at both of two such dates to gurad against people jumping on the band-wagon for pure financial advantage). If you were an 'eligible member' then nothing can take your entitlement away UNLESS you don't respond within a specified period - typically that might be something like 5 years after the date of demultalisation. As the eligibility would normally lie with policyholders/owners there's a grey area concerning people who were members of pension plans and other such group plans because legally the member/owner would probably be seen as the employer etc. However, a spate of demutualisations in Australia in the last decade sorted that one out (although I can't remember how it ended up - and that certainly wouldn't mean that Standard Life would have to follow suit in the UK). the important thing, though, is that if you were eligible for shares on demutualisation due to your qualifying as an 'eligible member' you should have received reams and reams of paperwork by now. And if they have no address for you then obviously they cannot send you anything. Visit the SL website where there's a lot of good information available, and if you think you have a legitimate claim then contact them. Good luck, but in my opinion you shouldn't hold your breath!
