Just wanting to know if anyone can help me. Have been offered a job in Tuen Mun but really want to live around Central. What's the commute like time wise and is it crowded bus or train? Am I crazy wanting to live on the island and not at somewhere like the Gold Coast?

There is a bus to Tuen Mun - 962. Leaves from Causeway Bay and goes through Central stopping at the McDonalds on Connaught Road and then on to Tuen Mun. Takes about 40 mins. I did the painful commute from near Gold Coast into Central and was painful but would depend on your work hours. Often have to stand all the way on the 962 but for me the killer was working long hours and then having to face a 40 min trip home. If you have regular hours then might not be too bad with an ipod and a book.

It probably won't be crowded for you, as you are going in the opposite direction to most other passengers. Anyway, here are the details of the 962 bus:

I would say it depends on your lifestyle. If you need to be on the island side alot during the weekends to meet up with friends or go to LKF, then you should live around Central. Otherwise, Gold Coast can offer you a very relaxed lifestyle with plenty of space, beautiful view and fresh air. The pool is really beautiful. Besides, the current rent per sq. feet for flats in the Gold Coast is around $9 to $10 (if you rent directly from individual landlord), much cheaper than the rent around Western Mid-Level/Soho.
