Baby's leg caught between bars of cot

Hello, My 5 month old baby keeps getting her leg caught in between the bars of the cot. Is there anything that I can put around the cot that is safe? I know that we are advised against using cot bumpers, so not sure what else to do? Any suggestions? Thanks.

I think that cot bumpers are the only solution !

Don't worry, they are safe. Just need to buy good quality with strings that you can tie with a knot.

My little one is very active in his bed but he's never managed to remove his bumper.

You could try putting your baby to sleep in a grobag. Good Luck

I hadn't planned on using cot bumpers, there's so much advice against, but ended out using them from about 7 mo because of what you're experiencing, she'd get her feet and legs caught between the rails. By 7 mo. she was strong enoughto not only to roll over but also to sit up by herself, so I wasn't so concerned about her getting her face caught against the fabric and not being able to move away. I had the bumpers made, they have ties top and bottom every 3 slats (I double knot them) and they're a very crushable foam, that is, she can't stand on them and get any sort of climbing advantage. (We still use them, she's still in her crib and she's 3 now)

If the cot is near to the wall try pulling it away - then the legs don't get stuck outside the cot so much (we had the same problem). I found grobags wonderful for fidgety babies - my 2 year old is still using them and never wakes up cold.

Be careful re cot bumpers. Current recommendations for SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome) is that nothing is put inside the cot until the child is 2 years old (pillows/large teddy bears/bumpers etc).

Both my kids seemed to grow out of the problem (or it just stopped because they both went into grobags!!)

Thanks so much for all your replies. The cot bumpers would be great, but since my baby is only 5 months old, I would rather wait until she is a few months older. I will try the grobag and see how that goes. Thanks again.
