I think that ABC Asia Pacific has the exclusive rights (and incidentally that has been a well-known fact for many months). And even then the signal is encrypted, so unless you have the decoder then all you'll be watching is a blank screen (with no sound either). The decoder is free and you can visit theie wesite for details of how to register and get it. It's also quite possible that the SA home matches might be on one of the SA satellite channels, but I'm not even so sure about that.

The address for the information on the encryption for direct-to-home services is as follows:

Unfortunately no good for me because I live ina complex where things like that are under the control of the management. The ABC themselves were very good in offering to send a version of the instructions in Chinese, but understanding wasn't the problem - it was the inclination to do anything special to cater for the odd long-staying rugby enthusiast.

DA,
What is 'channel 541'? Is it one of the PCCW free channels? And if so are you aware of whether or not the provider (PCCW or whoever) has made the changes re the encrypted signal. It's only the live rugby match signals that have been encrypted. A few months ago when the ABC made the announcement they also included the 'live' (or only slightly delayed) AFL matches would be encrypted but they have changed their mind on that one. I'm interested in exploring other opportunitues for watching the rugby at home but realise my options are now somewhat limited.

Aha. So they must have the encryption thing organised. Thanks.
