HI moms and Dads!
I am looking into purchasing a Duo/Tandem stroller (for 2 kids) for my 3 year old, and 8 months old. Something easy to maneuver, can close with 1 hand (preferably), and under 20 lbs, as I plan to travel with them, I thought it might be easier than having two strollers, or having one stroller and a baby carrier b/c 8 months one is getting near 20lbs.
Also, any feedback about using duo stroller, or do you use Sit N' Stand stroller to transport your toddler and baby ?
Help! (Thanks!)

Have you considered a buggy board for your 3 year old?

Hi Kate -
I just bought these stroller clips - to clip two IDENTICAL strollers together. Ideally umbrella style. (like the maclaren) I havent' tried it out yet, but I have two Maclaren Quests that I'm planning on using together when I need to and separately when I don't. I also like the idea of having my kids wheeled around together when I have to do it but I haven't the room for yet another stroller in my house. So I'm trying this out.
I haven't actually done it yet (clips sent to the US where I will be visiting) but i'll let you know how it goes.
They are called stroller connectors - and I found them on amazon.com - lionheart brand. You can check it out and see if it fits the bill for what you need.

thanks hkchoichoi! Sounds neat. problem is, I have three strollers at home, all different style and brands. I guess you would need TWO identical strollers ideally to use the clips?
Katclarke- thanks for the idea. Will look into it.
Still considering buying a tandem/duo stroller.... anyone else out there? I am looking at the JEEP one, they sell it at Toys'R us...not too expensive.

the other one that has gotten decent press is called Bill and teds -

yes for the stroller clips - two IDENTICAL strollers. i've read reviews where people have used them on two different strollers and they complain about the functionability. Which is kind of dumb since the manufacturer clearly states that it is meant for identical strollers.

I have a limousine double pram (one child sits in front of the other - not side by side). It is a Graco brand (not sure if available in HK). It folds quite small (I can take it on the shuttle bus if I have help to manage the kids). Very easy to navigate around and fits through doorways (which alot of side by sides don't). My husband has even taken it on escalators - not something I recommend. It always generates alot of attention when we are out and about so I suspect this type of pram may not be common in HK. I have a 2 year old and a 4 year old, but have been using it since number 2 was a bub. Can recommend this style if you can find it - might be able to pick one up second hand?
The only problem friends have had with side by side tandems is getting through crowds and through doorways.
Good luck

I went all around to look at my possible options today..... they are either really heavy, very bulky, very expensive, or it's special order.
Anyone travel with a toddler and a baby, but only took ONE stroller? I will have my hippchick, and babyjorn carrier as well. Thinking would it be easier to bring just one lightweight stroller that BOTH can use but one at a time. I am betting that they won't BOTH sleep at the same time?

I do it Kate -
it's not so bad.
you're right - only one sleeps generally at the same time - but again, when I have two alone, I try not to make it too long of a trip. Mostly my two year old is happy to walk, and when she isn't, she's out of the stroller and I carry her, and I stick my baby in the stroller. I recommend the Quest (if you dont' have it) as it is usuable for toddlers up to 22 or 25 kg. I can't remember which one. My daughter now 26 months is still happy in it. My 4 month old can ride in it as well.

Just in case you're still considering the double pram option I just saw the GRACO tandem duo at Harbour City in "Mon bebe". Shop OTG16 (near Toys R Us). Cost about $1800 It's the one I have (except a newer and sleeker version) - where one child sits in front of the other.

Thanks Adelaidemum, guess what? I just happened to have gone inside today with my two kids, and tried it out. It was great, but I didn't buy it yet b/c it is way too heavy for me to handle.
How do you manage to get up and down escalators? And also if there were stairs, no other option, what do you do? Do you get the kids out, fold up the stroller, then open it back up, and strap the kids back in after you make it up or down..... whew, it sounds exhausting just THINKING about it. So I am still debating.
I also tried the JEEP one (side by side) umbrella style one, it's much cheaper $ 799.00 but it's so wide, and not as comfy as the Graco.
Dilemma dilemma..... I wich there were more to choose from.
Peg Perego was way too expensive for me, and too heavy, and too narrow for the seats.
Graco one was great to manuever around, easy to open and close, just wondering how often I would use it other than this upcoming trip. But I am going to Japan, not sure those Japanese locals are going to be too happy with me storming through their subway stations with the double stroller. (My daughter thought it was a train !) that's how big that stroller is. It was fun though to try it out.
Thanks again for the information!

Dear Katetam,
I have to admit that I only venture into Central etc with the kids and the double pram if I have hubby with me. With stairs we don't fold it up but take kids out and bump empty pram up or down.
My husband puts it on the escalator with younger child in - 4 yr old just hops on and off escalator by herself. I like it when we have to walk long distances because it gives the option of the older one having a rest from walking. However for just day to day in HK it's not practical if I'm on my own with the kids due to the stairs. In Aust I used it alot on my own b/c it fit easily into the car boot and made it easier shopping b/c I knew where both kids were at all times - no risk of losing one.
Does Japan have the stair/escalator problems or are there more lifts?? Are you going to have help on the holiday? If not I would say it's too big.

Hi All, I am new to Hong Kong, been here one week. And have a 2 year old and an 8month old. They are both soooo heavy, and my two year old isn't exactly trained for public places yet as we lived in the country in New Zealand. So I have a buggy with a seat on the front that my toddler sits up in. BUT it is heavy and hard for places where I don't know where the lifts are, and some shops the wheels are too wide. So what do other mums here do?? I'm okay once I've scouted out the area and found the lifts, but it makes even the basic chores so tiring.
It is a Childcare Buggy. I've also tried using the front pack for baby and having Caleb Walk........but that means short trips where I can watch him and stop him destroying the planet.
Not exactly relaxing.
Anyone else got young kids close in age?
Thanks for your help!
