My bubbs is 5 weeks old and still on a 2.5/3 hour schedule. Most nights he sleeps for 4 hours at a stretch.
My mom keeps telling me he should already be on a four hour schedule. How many of you had a four hour eating schedule (breastfeeding) at 5 weeks, and if not, how long did it actually take you to get to a 4 hour schedule?
Thanks much!

I personally think 5 weeks is way too young for a 4 hour schedule.
We are at 6 months and still on a 3.5 hour schedule! We moved to 3.5 hours at about 3 months I think.

Try not to stress our bubs wasn't on any sort of a schedual until about 8weeks mind you i had some probles and had to go to EBF at 6weeks but once i did this she started to sleep thru the night. It really depends on hour hard (tough love) you want to be i couldn't do that and the paediatrician told me that little babies have hormones in them which make it difficult to start routines as they just want to sleep. I think your doing really well my baby is 22wks and on a 4 hr schedual but she often doesn't last that long even now.

relax!! he's only 5 weeks....2.5/3 hourly feeds is quite good already!
give it time...mine is 17 weeks and on 3.5/4 hourly...i remember being super anxious and wanted to stretch 4hourly (super tough love) but that made things even worse...
not too bad if your bub wants to drink milk...mine doesn't even want to at times, which is just as bad! :P

4 hour schedule is too much for a 5 week old baby. I think you're already doing quite well.My baby was on a 2 hour schedule (breastfeeding) at that age. He just coudln't go beyond 2 hours without a feed!

Wouldn't worry too much about it. Feeding more during the day - may help your baby sleep longer at night. I think trying to maximize caloric intake during the daytime hours and then gradually stretch the feeds during the night time.
But five weeks - still young. If he sleeps four hours at night - that's great, but keep the day feeds frequent as he needs them. Closer to 3 months you may get the four hour feeds. (My daughter is five months now, and she still feeds around every 3.5 hours but sleeps through the night.)
