Hi, Bit of a longshot guess, but might the spelling be 'wharekura' ?

Does sound like it is NZ Maori

If it is Wharekura, it means schoolhouse...Whare = house, Kura =school

If it is Wharekura ( Te Reo Maori) pronounce each syllable separately, & with equal emphasis on each one...sounds a bit like..

far ray koo rar

but say each syllable a bit more quickly than if they were English syllables.

Hope that makes sense!
