Do you recommend buying a bottle warmer for newborns? There will be times where I will need to be expressing and storing breast milk.
Any particular brands that are better to use?

I think they're crap. Takes way too long and when the baby is screaming, you just want to throw those warmers out the window. Received two as gifts (Advent and some other brand) and both ended up in storage and then the trash.
Get an always-plugged-in hot water thermos (appliance) and put the bag of frozen or refrigerated breat milk inside of a hot cup of water. This way, you can use the thermos for your tea and if you ever use powdered formula for the baby, just the water from the thermos. Much more economical and practical.
Good luck!

We like our bottle warmer.
We use a cheap brand called Core, it is square and has a tray thing that helps you lift out the bottle/container. (which is important when you are heating food in a 'short' container)
I dont think brand is as important as flexibility - we wanted square over round so we could use for food too.
We use it for expressed breast milk bottles and for warming up food. So far we have fed him out of round and square containers - both fit.
It has a temperature control on the front, my only complaint is that there is no 'off' switch, we have to turn it off at the wall socket.
It uses very little water, and heats pretty quickly.
It makes me feel more comfortable that the amah and my husband can heat things a bit more safely.
When we travel we just use hot water - but found it took longer.

I agree. I think they are crap too. As for the hot water in cups, we did that too for awhile, but it left water rings all over our furniture. We finally just used the microwave. I know it's not recommended for safety reasons, but if you figure out exactly how many seconds it takes and then shake the bottle vigorously to prevent hotspots, then you shouldn't have a problem with scalding.

I have an Avent bottle warmer and depending on how much milk you need to heat up depends on the time in the warmer. Also i would heat mine up so it would be just warm like body temp. I now use the microwave as exeter said i just shake it really well. We found our Warmer really helpful when travelling and i some times i am using the Mic/conv oven, so have gone back to the warmer. The Avent one is round or oval but the small feeding bottles they have are round anyway so thats not a problem for us. I have used the kettle boiling water way but i find that takes ages actually probably just as long as a warmer depending on how hot the water in the kettle boils to. You could probably live without a warmer but i have found ours handy and useful. If you have a car i've seen ones on the internet that plug into the lighter hole which look really hand if you drive a lot.

i second the thermos flask suggested by kooni. you will always have hot water to heat things up instead of waiting for the kettle. my bub is on formula, i out most of the cool boiled water in his sterilised bottles and add some hot water from the flask to make it nice and warm for his feeds.
and when i did breastfeed and use expressed milk, i used hot water to warm up the milk instead of any warmer. my friend complained that her warmer took too long and was never warm enough even then!
