Has anyone had a swim at the pool in Sai Kung? I have also heard that the pool at the Uni is very good and that you can get special permission to swim there.
I've just been to the pool at Tseung Kwan O, but found it controlled by the 'fun police' to a ridiculously high level! They even had a 'fast lane' roped off with signs indicating which way to swim etc, but yes, you guessed it....they just swam all over the place! Another annoying thing was the session times. They actually close at lunch, and most of the day on Mondays for cleaning (but it wasn't very clean at all!).
Is there any pool around here where you can just simply walk through the front gate, and jump into the pool and swim?!
I miss my Aussie suburban pool!!

The fun police are out at all pools in HK and yes they ALL close at 12noon, reopen at 1:30, close at 6pm reopen at 7:30pm and they will all have a full day of cleaning - Sai Kung closes at 10am on Wednesdays and reopens at 6:30pm. I too am unsure about thelevel of cleaning that is actually done - I can't understand how Australian pools can open all day everyday and still be clean!!!
I swim at Sai Kung - best times to go to swim laps are after 8am until 12. Then from about 2pm - 4:30pm, then again at 8:30pm- till closing. There seems to be less people there at these times - most days I have the lap pool to myself in the morning. They still have the roped off area for fast swimmers and no one even takes notice of this - or even enforces what happens in the pool as long as you are not diving, or taking photos you are basically left alone to wreak havoc to other swimmers.
The lap swimmers are usually there from 6am - 8am and so it is rush hour at this time - can still done- just a bit of jostling.
The University pool costs about $50 to enter a time, but you will pretty much get the pool to yourself most of the day.
Maybe I will see you there sometime!

Thanks Dimac
Do you need a special pass for the Uni pool? I wonder if there is a way to get a monthly membership. Maybe there is someone out there who is either a student or staff at the Uni who could give some advice on this. It looks like a superb pool, with a great location. Waste of a great resource otherwise!
Thanks

Believe you need a Sport Facilities User Card for free admission. You can download the form from the Uni's website.
