Prams supported with car seat

I'm due in Oct. Thinking to buy a pram before the little one arrives. Any recommendations for a lightweight and comfortable pram for a newborn? I know people recommend Graco EDT. It's definitely good bargain and convenient but I find it kind of flimsy. What's more, it doesn't support a car seat (Is it really necessary?). The handle is not reversible so cannot face the baby when you stroll. Other choices that people mentioned are Maclaren and Combi.

Also is it better to carry the bub in Bjorn or a pram? Can Moms share your experience? Thanks!

We almost never use a pram in Hong Kong. Baby is 6 months now and we prety much only use a sling and a car seat.

There are car seat 'frames' that are literally a framw with wheels, you add your carseat and you have an instant pram. We don't have one of these, but I think if we did we would have used it.

You might want to borrow something first or buy something second hand to see what you actually use and like. There seem to be many second hand prams for sale on Asiaxpat because people bought early and then found they didn't use it as much as they thought they would.

You need to ask yourself where and when you would use it. Do you drive? Do you take the bus? Do you take taxis? Do you live somewhere you can walk out your front door and push a pram? Where would you go? etc....

At the same time watch the classifieds for good deals :)

Hi crj, thanks for your advice. Agree that it all depends on habit. That's why I have to think thoroughly before getting the right product. Don't want to end up buying several prams before the bub turns 2 years old!

My husband and I drive, so we will need a car seat for sure. So if I were to get a car seat frame as stroller, up to what age do you think the baby will outgrow the seat until we have to get a real pram? Just wish to minimize wastage (that's why I'm not planning to buy a Moses' basket!)
