Child with Asthma in Shanghai?

My husband has been offered a transfer from the US to Shanghai. Our older son has asthma and we are worried about how he will react to the air quality. Anyone have experience with a child with asthma and living in Shanghai? Is your child better/worse there than before you relocated?

We used to live in HK before Shanghai and the area we lived in HK had better air quality than Shanghai where we now live in the city centre. Surprisingly, my son's asthma hasn't acted up at all in the 2 1/2 years we've been here. You might want to stock up on his asthma medication before you come here as you may not find what you need here.
