Dog export fees .... unbelievable!

We've been quoted a total of HK$21,000 to export our small dog to Australia. What a huge shock, especially when it cost HK$7000 to bring him over. Is this really the going rate to send our pet home?

Thanks Andrew. I'll get in contact with him.

Still can't believe it's going to cost A$3500 to send a small dog home. Our family of 4 can fly home return for that!

Try Jetpets in Melbourne, as they are very good.

info@jetpets.com.au or contact Ferndale Kennels and Cattery in Hong Kong on 852 2792 4642

These two organisations work together.

Thankyou Aurora Australis. I'll give them a go too.

I thought someone may have gone through the same process and been as shocked as we have. I feel there must be another way to cut costs.

I think the expense is the Australian quarantine costs - whereas when you brought your dog up here there is no quarantine requirements - just think that it is cheaper now as it used to be 3 months in quarantine - i think it is only 1 month if they have had all their shots before leaving HK. And people wonder why pets are left behind - not condoning this behaviour, there is just a pretty big reason behind it.

Yes we have started early, 6 months, before he's sent and that means he only has 30 days in Aust quaratine. He has to be in HK for 5 months to qualify and up to date with injections/ tests etc. I'm still in shock .... is it really HK $21,000? Quarantine is A$700 (HK $4200)for 30 days.
