Before I head off on a wild chase does anyone know of any supplier of this. I am after a rubber/foam so it is firm but has soft give when standing on it. one surface is smooth and the other surface has "hills and valley's" like an egg carton. It is about 1.5 inches thick.
There must be some place that I can buy several metres off a roll.
Any leads for me?

There is a shop in Wan Chai! On the st directly behind Lockhart, where they sell electrical tools. I've seen one shop that had all sorts of foam for sale, including the one you're describing. I believe its sound insulation(?)

You can get this stuff in Mongkok also. There are rows of shops along Reclamation Street that sell a myriad of different types and sizes and thicknesses of the rubber you are describing.

Whatever you use it for make certain you check the flamability especially if used on walls/ceilings; there should be a fire certificate & also cut a bit off & try to light it.
