Hi There Jhely,
Croydon is a good balance between London and town life... The cost of living is much less than in London proper, so you will find it less expensive than HK. There are loads of shops which sell things second hand but IKEA in the UK is MUCH MUCH cheaper than in HK and the range is far bigger - that is a good place to start... and it is based in Croydon.
ebay.co.uk is the best place to get anything second hand - but you have to pay the haulage costs so be careful. Most of the local newspapers have sections with stuff for sale.
