How do you get rid of food stains on baby's clothes/bibs without using harsh chemicals like bleach? Is Nappisan too harsh as well? Thanks.

I use this Sunlight Soap (bar) from Canada, it takes out everything. I wonder if it's available anywhere in HK. I keep asking people to bring it back from Canada.

I never put anything into the wash with a spot that has even a remote chance of not coming out. So there's often something soaking in cold water and powdered soap in my bathroom sink :-). (I use Dreft, an infant laundry soap available at Gateway.) Some things come out completely on their own in an hour or two, some things I scrub with some more soap off and on over a couple of days. Sounds like a pain in the butt but it's really fine, and none of her clothes have any stains....

For FOOD stains though, we try to avoid them all together....at home, we take off whatever she's wearing and change her into an "eating shirt" (one of a drawer full of T shirts from Stanley). Have to say, that little inspiration of my husband's has saved loads of things from soaking in the first place.

I think Napisan is the best. Its not to harsh if you use the right quantity to water. Its recommended in the UK and Australia.

We use cloth nappies, and have a bin in near the changing table with a lid. In the bin is always some water and a bit of napisan - we put the food stain clothes in this as well as the nappies, so it soaks before the wash.

But saying that - I don't really care, he has a new wardrobe every 3 months as he grows, and bibs are meant to get dirty. :)

We went on holiday, and I didn't soak the bibs or clothes - just threw them in a plastic bag to bring home for laundry. Our maid said 'why didn't you wash them, they will stain' I said "I was on holiday, and I am not bothered about stains"

I apply dishwashing liquid to the stain then pour boiling hot water through the fabric. If this hasn't done the trick, then a soak in a bucket of hot water with a scoop of OXY Vanish usually does the trick. This has worked for me for all stains except ink from Pilot inkwell pens.
