Hi


We have recently moved to HK. Any advice on which mobile operator's provides the best package for international calls, or has the most economical rates for India would be of great help.

singhs, I use 1611 for my calls to India and if I remember right, the cost is 1.3HKD per minute. They let you link your home and cell phones for their service. I dont have their contact details right now, but will pull out the invoice and let you know tomm.


For calls to US and Singapore, I use 0080 and its very efficient - costs less than HK10-15c per minute.

Sorry, let me clarify. To get best rates on international calls in HKG, you basically sign up with one (or many)of these service providers.Each of them has a prefix - eg 1611 or 0080. All you do is call this prefix and then the country code and number.


They bill you seperately and the cost is much much cheaper than a direct dial.


0080 I think is from HGC and you can find them on the web. 1611 is from Asia Telecom and their contact number is 2877 7881. Be sure to tell them you want an India specific package.

Hi,


I use Skype, costs HKD 1.2 per min for a call to india & HKD 1.3 to call a mobile.


Amazing voice clarity.


Skype to Skype free [ i.e. if the other person is connected to the net]

The advantage to having these call plans vs Skype is that you travel with it - you dont need to be home or with a laptop to make calls. I have signed up on some of these programs on my res. phone my cell and my wife's cell. Its never a problem calling anyone whereever you are....
