ok, i understand from the BA website that i can't bring my carseat on board unless i actually buy my bub a seat instead of just an infant ticket.
but what about the pram? can i at least bring it up to the flight and the flight attendants store it away until we arrive at our destination? we are flying at night when the bub is asleep so it will be good if we didn't have to check-in the pram and can use it in the departure hall.

I think all airlines will let you take the pram right up to the gate and then return to you when you get off the plane.

They generally let you take it up to the aircraft door and then store it in the hold - it is generally brought back to you at the door. Best to stay seated until everyone else gets off as it often takes a while for them to retrieve it. On Business I have often been allowed to take it on the aircraft and they pop it in the suit cupboard does depends how full the aircraft is. Best to call prior to your departure to check their policy.

I always travel BA and they always allow my buggy in the hold. They usually take it off em when we are waiting at the gate and a guy takes it down for you and sorts it out. It is always waiting at the door when exiting, I have never had to wait and am off the plane like a shot! Pram may be different- I suppose it depends on the size...

You can definitely take the pram to the gate. However what happens at the other end can vary. If they put your pram in the hold, at LHR they don't have the facility to return it to you at the gate. You would not get it back until baggage claim. My friend travelling by herself with 18mo old twins (who were asleep on arrival)was not impressed! BUT they have room for a few strollers on board the plane itself. Get to the gate early and plead with them if this is important to you! I've not heard of any other airport where this is an issue, just LHR (no problem on return leg), and it's nothing to do with BA. The more compact your stroller the more likely they are to accept it on board.

Maybe things have improved then because it was definitely not a case of me rushing off the plane. I was told it was not possible to get it back. Worth checking out to make sure, as it is a long walk to baggage claim!

They will allow you to bring it to the airplane (unless it is a 3 wheeler), but :-)) is right; there is no guarantee that they will deliver it to you at the gate at the other side. It seems to depend on the mood of the baggage handlers on a given day. It is worth trying to get it in a wardrobe on board.
If you have some kind of baby carrier, it might be worth packing that as a safety net, because it is a long walk to the baggage carousel. Also, they often bring the buggies out on the 'outsize luggage' carousel, which can take a LOT longer. That really complicates things, because you have to get your bags first, while carrying a baby - which I found a real struggle!!!
As suggested above, contact BA for some guarantees. Good luck though, I have been waiting for a reply from them for a week!
