Breastfeeding help!

ORIGINAL POST

My son is 10 weeks old and I exclusively breastfeed him (he won't take a bottle). The last week or so he is getting frustrated at every feed and can't seem to latch on properly as he is crying as well. If he does latch on, he starts to pull on the nipple back and forth (doesn't hurt) and then lets go and starts crying hysterically. Could it be my supply is low or he just can't get the milk quick enough? Its getting me really upset.

Hope you can advice me. Thanks

You poor thing, really upsetting and frustrating isnt it. Please dont fret or give up. The best thing to do I think is speek to a lactation specialist they will be able to advise you straight away. Some contacts: LLL leader Sarah 2548-7636. Mrs Chee 2705-9322. Annerley Midwives 2983-1558. Yvonne Heavyside 988 73235. Often times they can just give you advice on the phone or email. They also do home visits if need be too. Good Luck!!

sometimes if the breast is engorged, the baby is unable to latch on properly..if that is the case you should try expressing some milk before latching on to help soften the breast.

Or if there is too much milk coming in baby might not be able to handle the flow and is therefore distressed again expressing helps.

But you need to find out what the problem really is, do try to contact the LLL as Kimmi suggested.
