My daughter is 3.5 years old and she has been having mild eczema since she was about 1 year old. I've used many different brands of cream including Mustela's Stelatopia but none of them really work - her skin is still extremely dry. The only thing that sort of works better is Vaseline Petroleum jelly - and that only works OK when have it put on her 5-6 times a day. She doesn't have any redness per se, but many dried patches but not watery at all - but very dry. Is there anything else that I can try?

I use all the QV products on my daughter, it seems to be the best for us. I put the QV bath oil in the bath and wash her with QV liquid then put on the QV moisturiser on 2-3 times a day. Oilatum products are also good, they also have the bath oil, wash and moisturiser. Both products are available in Watsons and bigger mannings.

I've tried QV - both the bath oil and the cream, works about the same as Vaseline. As for Oilatum, doesn't really work. I'll try again with the QV. It's getting to the point that my daughter automatically reaches for the Vaseline herself when she feels dry! (and she's only 3.5 years old)

I use QV bath oil & then put 10% glycerine on Glaxal base cream (you probably have to mix it yourself). I also give her cod liver oil & probiotic. She is now 1 year old & the eczema doesnt' go away but it's under control. She is very serious before. Sometimes, when her skin is too dry, I will put Vitamin E oil.
In her case, I don't really think the eczema is coming from food only. she was very serious while she is breastfeeding & at one time, I was extremely careful about what I eat. I dont' see the difference.
But if Vasaline works for you, why dont' you want to change?

My baby is 6 months old and has eczema on her face and body. Is it ok to give her cod liver oil at this age? Thanks. I use QV bath oil and lotion already.

I give cod liver oil to my baby when she was 8 months old. You may want to check with your doc. I never check with my ped again as she told me the only thing works is steriod. Changing her diet won't help accroding to her. I used to apply steriod on her but once I stop (or I put less), eczema came back even worse the next day. It came to a point that she was not responding to Hydrocortisone anymore. Then, the ped gave her elomet. She was only 7 months old back then.

Most of the eczema on children is a result of allergy to food or other environmental variables --- that's what i've been told by our allergologist in HK. My son did the "skin test" when he was 2 and he has been eczema free for a year now. We found out his allergies and when we took them away from his diet/surroundings, then he never had the skin disorder again.

I agree that you should look into the possibility of it being diet related. I had terrible eczema all my life and was only ever given steroid creams, oilatum and a host of other creams to use. Yes they do help it subside but it does not go away. Try going to one of the specialists at IMI in Stanley Street, I did and found out I am VERY allergic to diary. Don't have a patch of eczema now.
Good Luck
