You may need to give a few more details in order to get some meaningful responses. For example:
What's your budget? $10k or $100k?
Are you more into lying on the beach drinking c*cktails, or climbing Mt Kilimanjaro? I would choose the latter myself, but most people that hang out on Asiaxpat seem to be into the former.
Any particular areas of the world that you are interested in? It's the wrong time of year for Antarctica, but perfect for Kilimanjaro :-)

travel to Maldives- get on a boat and cruise around the atolls and islands to go diving or snorkelling.......you can do that best without the kids- should try to figure something out that's best without kids...........

Travel to Cairns, North Qld, Australia. When in Cairns, as a day trip - take the Sky Rail cable car over the rainforest canopy to Kuranda.
A good base would be Palm Cove (preferably) or Port Douglas. Do a Barrier Reef trip from Port Douglas. If money is no object then perhaps head for Hamilton Island and hire a yacht to Whitehaven Beach (the most beautiful beach in the world).
Then travel north to the tropical rainforest area around Daintree. Do some croc spotting on a Daintree River cruise.
Or Head west to Kakadu National Park and Katherine Gorge. Stunning 4WD country.

Try Duvine Adventures in Boston (Do a Google) and ask about their 5 Star Bike tours of Burgandy region in France. Absolutely fantastic, especially for a food and wine lover. The biking is easy and the accom is supurb.

What a shame.
Here you are, with a holiday and no idea where to go, and here I am, all these places I want to go and not a holiday in sight!
I suppose that's just the way.
