Shanghai – Kids with Asthma - Allergies

Considering a two year assignment in Shanghai. Office in Pudong. Two kids 7 & 9, One child has Asthma and a severe allergy to tree nuts. I have heard the air quality can be a real issue (polution & coal plants??) and we are cautious with food. The ingredient standards (labels) in North America provide good guidelines. Would not want to put child in a grave situation for two years. Anybody that can shead some light or gone through a similiar situation I would welcome feedback. Thanks!!
