What to do?

I am travelling to the UK early Sept. with my two month old son.

My husband and I hold British passports and are both PR in Hong Kong.

I have picked up my son's British passport already but, do I need to register him with HK Immigration.

What's the story with a HKID card for him.

Can I take him through the PR lane when going through HK immigration?

If anyone knows the procedure with registering newborns I would be most grateful if you would share it with me.

Not all children under 11 years have ID cards in HK so I presume to get back into HK you would need some sort of proof that he is your son..ie birth certificate.

We are the same as you but my daughter already held a HK ID card from 8 months old but we still carried her birth certificate with us when coming back through immigration.

This is the link to apply for an ID card for children under 11.

I would call immigration to double check on exactly what they want.

You need to take the birth certificate (original) - you can go to Immigration and get (pay for) a sticker stating the baby's PR status to put in the passport to save taking the birth cert.
