Can anyone provide the contact details for who would be interested to publicize/resolve consumer complaint issues? Is there a media outlet for this sort of thing?
I have an issue along the lines of the Nokia phone battery that burst into flames a few yrs back, only mine involved an H-P laptop and all original vendor parts. Needless to add, I've already approached H-P and their reply was a repair/replacement bill.
Thanks in advance

The Consumer Council, although it's rather toothless as "consumer rights" in HK is an oxymoron.

Claire: No, ‘consumer rights’ is not an oxymoron - not in Hong Kong and not anywhere else. An oxymoron is a stylistic device, combining (usually two) normally incongruous or contradictory terms to make a particular point.
While you are undoubtedly trying to point out that consumer rights in Hong Kong are relatively weak and limited (which they are), the use of oxymoron is incorrect – there is no inherent contradiction or paradox in the term ‘ consumer rights’ as such.

If I say I stand corrected, will you give a constructive respond on the subject of the thread?

Thx for the constructive suggestions. Is there anyone specifically recommended at SCMP or Next or ?? What I mean is, do I just call the general number? Fortunately I've never had to do this before.

There's a weekly 'column' on p2 of the City section written by Kevin Sinclair (??) who takes up consumer-related issues on behalf of those who are battling the odds. I suggest you visit the SCMP website and look for the contact details.
