ORIGINAL POST

My 2yr. old son has been assessed with a language disorder, and I am looking for a native English speaking therapist with a good amount of years of experience. Can anyone recommend someone in Hong Kong who specializes in language disorders?

Thanks for any leads you can share!

Thank you for posting. I will be watching this thread with great interest as my daughter has a stutter and I need to find a speech therapist too. Good luck with it all

melinda sturges is an established and excellent speech therapist in hong kong. i don't have her number handy, but could probably find it if you are still looking for it. she treated my son and within hours of the first visit, she gave my husband and i a great deal of insight and understanding, as well as what we could be doing to assist my son. melinda is also the speech therapist who visits the esf schools, i believe.

let me know if you would like the number.

Thank you for your reply. If possible I would really appreciate getting her number. I didn't see her on a list I found on the Internet. Just wondering....how many times a week did your son see her? Thanks again.

hello

melinda works at psychology resources:

suite 1202

chinachem hollywood centre

1-13 hollywood road, central

my son saw her twice a week for a while, i believe. he still sees her for occasional "checkups" to gauge how his language development is progressing against age norms. melinda has lots of interesting toys in her office and uses them to ease your child out of their shell. my son is shy around strangers, and she used interesting toys and games to identify his speech strengths and weaknesses. i was impressed that she did that because i was afraid he wouldn't say a thing the entire session!

good luck.
