Well, people would recommend against CSl coz it's a tad expensive but to me- it's the best service in hk- top quality signal strength pretty much everywhere....people in my office have trouble with their hutch/sunday signal...we are on the 46th floor...
choose the right CSL plan for yourself...

i used smartone before, but had signal problems.
i've been using CSL for around 3 years, it's great.. make sure you add-on an SMS package if you're a frequent txt'er.. can save a few dollars.

Hi Jiggly..
you have two options :
1 - use bluetooth to link your phone and notebook
2 - use a "PCMCIA" Card which has a builtin modem etc, you can get 3g models of these now
go to a CSL shop and i'm sure they can sell you option 2.

One other consideration: Different buildings have agreements with one or two operators. For instance, my office building has an exclusive arrangement with 3 for repeaters, antennae in elevators, etc. As a result, I switched from Smartone (who I was quite happy with) to 3, in order to be able continue my calls in the elevator. You might want to check what works in your (office and residential) building(s) (use pre-paid cards or ask colleagues).

Hi there. In my experience for a prepaid plan, CSL rates .10 cents for local same network texting, .50 to other networks. .50 international text (per one text message) on sundays, and $1 on weekdays mondays thru saturdays. Smartone, on the other hand, has free $12 international text (automatically added to your account every month)per month, $1 per text message to countries like US or Canada. If you have used the free text bonus, the next message will be charged at $1 per message.

I've recently moved to CSL and so far so good...
For a total of $146 per month I get 800 basic minutes and 50 local intra-network SMS, but the bonus is I also get 50 IDD minutes per month so I can use my mobile to call any UK landline and mobile numbers for free.
The signal's good in my house (Clearwater Bay area) as well, whereas I couldn't use my mobile indoors when I was with 3.

I'm happy with my $88 Sunday plan--800 normal(airtime) minutes, 400 sunday to sunday + 300 extra.
I upgraded to include 120sms for an additional $55/month.
I didn't enrol in IDD to control my expenses, instead, I buy phone cards when I want to call overseas. Hope this helps

Is it worth upgrading to 3G? I am currently with 3, and I pay $128 pm. They want the same money. Of course, the talktime will be reduced, but I can live with that.
