Automatic renewal of contract and legal aspect

Tomas42, I'm afraid you don't necessarily have that obvious option. A while back, I only learned that the first of my two NOW contracts would be automatically renewed (note: no signature required by me) imminently when the technician, who I'd called out because I had a problem with one of my NOW boxes, casually mentioned it when he morphed into a sales role and tried to persuade me to take on more channels. I honestly don't remember being informed of NOW's automatic renewal policy when I signed the original contract c. 2 years ago. I've Palmed in advance the expiry dates of my renewed subscriptions (damn it, I wish I could do without broadband TV but I can't!) and will be prepared to cancel, if I wish to, in good time to avoid defaulting to yet another subscription period. That's if I'm still here. Following the technician's visit, I took the trouble of making the Customer Services people aware that I was wasn't happy, and told them that if I leave Hong Kong within this second subscription period then I will pay them up to the day I depart but they can whistle for any more money they believe is due.
