Hi!

Do you have to be a HKID holder to utilise the services at the Maternal & Child Health Centre? I am in HK for the next 5 and a half months and can't get an ID until January... long story!! If not, what are my options as far as keeping up with vaccinations (according to the Australian guidelines)?

Thanks!

you must be a HKID holder to use MCHC. You will have to go private. Most insurances do not cover "preventive" medicine (go figure) and so vaccinations will cost you an arm and a leg. Depending on how old your baby is (if he or she is more than a year) you may not run into any need for vaccinations - but if he's under six months, you'll be doing a lot of back and forth. It gets better after 9 months though -fewer frequency of shots.
