We are expecting our first child in 5 weeks and we would like to get a DVC to capture the precious moments. Many people have mentioned that we should get a DVC which records in a hard disk for easy editing rather than the ones burn directly to a DVD. What's your view? Any suggestions on which brand and model to get?

That's great, really appreciate all the detail very much indeed.

Yes, have just started looking either the Sony HC3-E (as you suggest) or the JVC MG505 as they are not mini-DV/tapes but Hard Disc.

Just starting to compare them both now and am sure Sony will be the one to get.
