Air Freight - Luggage

ORIGINAL POST

After two years, I am leaving HK but hope to travel on my way home. Can anyone recommend an economical way to air freight my luggage home? I am envisioning 2/3 pieces, not extremely heavy, but 2 years worth of stuff (clothes, books, etc.)

An inexpensive way is Hong Kong Post. It sells Multipack boxes which hold up to 30 kgs (weight limit depends on destination). Cost depends on destination. Example, 30 kgs Multipack to UK is $1720. A 20kg Multipack to Australia is around $900.

Thanks for the info. Thinking about it, I'll probably need to get close to 60/70 kilos home, and the multipack is a little pricey for my budget for what I need.

Claire & City Slicker, do you know whether HK Post offer surface freight with the Multipacks? Would imagine it should be cheaper than airfreight and HK Post still handles it this end and their agent the other end.

HK Post is excellent value. I gave a guest a $3.40 stamp to send a letter back to the UK - she couldn't believe that was all we pay for airmail.

The 30 kgs Multipack to UK, which is $1720 by air, is just $599 by surface.

The 20kg Multipack to Australia, which is around $900 by air, is just $375 by surface.

The lovely HK Post also has a Postage Calculator so you can see all its different rates. Note: the weight is in grammes so remember to add the necessary zeros, e.g. 30000g = 30kg.

The Multipack boxes come in 5kg, 10kg, 20kg and 30kgs. The boxes say "Speedpost" but you can use the boxes for the ordinary surface/air mail.

Here are the sizes and prices of the boxes.
