I'd like to know if it is possible to sponser a parent who is not yet 60 (the HK immigration website says they must be 60 or olser) to come and stay in Hong Kong. Is there any way to do this? I'd be interested to hear if anyone has been though this process. I am a Westerner. Thanks.

The only case I know about is that of a close friend who has PR status but her application was rejected because he father was only 58. She tried but failed to find a way around it, and she was working in the immigration industry at the time.

The age requirement was raised in July 2003 from 50 to 60. Also the rules now state employment visa holders are no longer permitted to sponsor parents to Hong Kong, unless under compassionate circumstances.

Thanks very much for taking the time to reply. I figured as much but was hoping that someone somewhere might know a way around it. I guess that is that door closed then.
