To me the airline is not that 'budget' unless you are lucky enough to get one of the few loss leaders.....

Oasis to sell limited number of cheap tickets
2006-09-04 HKT 18:18
Hong Kong's new budget airline, Oasis, says it will sell only ten percent of its economy seats at one-thousand dollars one-way to London Gatwick. And other tickets will cost up to three thousand five hundred dollars one-way, excluding tax and fuel surcharges. The airline has applied for a 481-dollar surcharge - the same level as for Cathay Pacific.

Throbbing, can i ask what you know about surcharges. I was charged 962 HK$ by a well known local airline on a so-called offer fare to the UK. Are surcharges set by the airline or externally?

I know nothing really about surcharges (and taxes) but I do know that they always quote prices excluding these - it makes a BIG difference when added! Fuel surcharges need to be approved by relevant authorities. And if you ever get a 'free' airmiles fare you still have to pay the additional taxes...
By the way the Oasis fare quoted is ONE WAY! HK$481 surcharge is one way. 2x HK$481 = HK$962

The tax on their one way $1,000 fare LON - HKG is more than the $1,000 fare!

Economy check-in baggage is 23kg, there's a 2kg dry ice allowance, but you have to pay extra for special meals...
