The welfare of the kid is what the court will be interested in & (unless there are reasons not to) the court is likely to grant joint custody and minimise the impact on the kid ie keep life as much as normal for the kid as before. Note however that things will probably get more complex later if either parent wishes to take the kid out of HK as usually in joint custody both parties need to consent to the kid moving.
