The nautical theme sounds great. Instead of buying a boat bed though, either get some nautical bedding or make your own. Get a plain white duvet and use fabric paints and stencils to make small boat designs on it. The market in Mong Kok sells clocks that look like red and white life belts, very cheap. I've also seen lighthouse bedside lamps (although not sure that was in HK). Maybe you could paint the walls light blue, then stencil dark blue seashells around the top like a border, plus a couple of boat pictures,or if you're feeling really daring, paint a big picture on one wall of a seaside scene. The possibilites are endless.

What a wonderful creative idea! What a good mummy!

You could also look into 'Wallies' and 'Stickarounds' they are non-perm wallpaper type stickers that you can put on and off the wall. If you google 'wallies and stickarounds' you will find some UK shops selling these online.

Mark also specialies in painting kids rooms - http://www.cdihk.com/ although it is not really a focus on his website.

I would go for something that is simple in terms or paint and expense, and that you can easily change- ie, sheets, clock, lamp some wallies - then you can change the theme easily when he is older. If you paint a full mural, you will probably have to redo it in a few years...

(I recall my cousin got her dream purple bedroom at 10, and was stuck with it forever as a result!)

Oh,,why don't you get your boy design his own room? He may actually become an interior designer when he grows up!
