uk visa - getting married!

Planning on getting married in dec/jan, my boyfriend is in the uk on a student visa, is it better to go to there on a tourist visa or get married and then go there?

If you are planning to stay on you bf visa as a dependent then I would get married here first. UK immigration will take a dim view of arriving as a tourist - getting married and then applying for a dependent visa. It takes at least 3 weeks to arrange a wedding in the UK - for the banns to be published.

the thing is we dont have much time too arrange the whole thing, wedding and visa. any idea as to how long it normally take to process a dependant visa?

his visa is probably valid up to august 2007
