We totally understand. HK is soooo child unfriendly. I think the best thing to do is avoid the trains and buses at peak times as that will just be disastrous. As for taxi's have you checked out the Joeysafe (Freedom ride) harness? They look like your kid is just about to do a parachute jump but apparently they are pretty good. You may want to check them out on the internet.

If you use the wide gates and the lift, getting on the MTR is not a problem. However these are not always located in a convenient spot, so I often lifted my child in their pushchair over the MTR turnstile and then took them down the escalator (the latter was easy, the first part more difficult).


As for taxis, child seats are not required at any age.
