Vietnamese baguettes that are used to make banh mi? I have been searching the internet for ages, with mixed, mostly not helpful results. I am baking in the US, so it would have to work with US ingredients, ar at least ingredients I can get in an Asianmarket here.

Thanks,

All you need is to go to those asian grocery stores in the Chinatown in the States and look for the following ingredients:

Shedded Carrots and White Chinese Carrots Pickles (usually they marinated in white vinegar and sugar)

Chinese {Parsley) *not the italian one because they have a smell of the authentic vietnamese baguette.

vietnamese sausage/ham (usually wrap in a tinfoil )

pate (any pate in western grocery store is fine already and easy to find)

Butter

Pepper and just a bit of salt

Bake the baguette (if u can find the vietnamese one in chinatown, otherwise just get the western baguette), cut in half and bake in oven for few minutes, spread with butter, pate, salt and pepper, add in the chinese parsley, carrots, white chinese carrot pickles, the most important - the vietnamese sausage / ham, voila!Enjoy!
