Hi Ellie

Thanks for asking.

One thing is the bagged spinach, once the USA FDA came out with the warning on the bagged spinach, mu husband and I stopped eating bagged salads and spinach.

Our 9 month old (tomorrow) boy hasn't got any allergies, thankfully, but he doesn't like bananas. He is not keen on textured foods or finger food yet - he likes it pureed well. One thing that is interesting is I used to have to do about 6-7 cubes of 'orange' (sweet potato, pumpkin, butternut squach, carrot) to one cube of 'green' (kale, brocoli), but now he is better with his greens and can take 6 cubes orange and 2-3 cubes green. Today I am trying peas again (which he previously rejected) and he is doing well with 7 cubes orange and one cube peas. So things are improving.

How about you?

We order organic vegetables & fruits from Aussie Organics (www.aussieorganics.com) from time to time - it's about the same price as in City Super.

We tried their fish pack as well, the quality is really good. They deliver to your door which is convenient.

Otherwise I buy at City Super. I don't like Great, I find it really expensive and the products tend to be not so fresh.

My baby's first meal was organic brown rice mixed with breast milk. He still gets grains every day - now he gets oatmeal millet barley brown rice mixed with his fruit (papaya, mango, kiwi), yogurt and flax seed oil for breakfast every day.

I tried making my own mixed grain mixture, but my baby doesn't really like texture and I couldn't blend it smooth enough, so I just use the Earths Best and Healthy Times organic mixed whole grain stuff... very easy.

I don't think most babies have allergies, but some foods if introduced too early can have a bad reaction but might be fine later. Saying that there are many allergies out there and some are serious (eg. peanuts). There are a few posts on this forum on allergies (wheat, milk, etc...) that are just so sad to read - parents that have to really plan every meal so carefully to be sure baby doesn't get sick or have allergic reaction.

a new supermarket has opened on the 3/F in The Landmark. it absolutely has the biggest range of organic everything in hk, blows great, citysuper and olivers out of the water in terms of choice. unfortunately its still not cheap though.

organic in singapore is very, very expensive. initially i thought we would go all organic for baby but after paying SGD12 (USD7.7 or so) for a bunch of bananas once, i just cannot bring myself to do it again. and at the same time, i figured when he grows older, he will be eating the same stuff with us, which is non-organic anyway.

so what we do is:

1) baby cereals, biscuits and jar foods - organic

2) veggie - non-organic...and i am not sure if this is the right thing to do but i peel the skin off most fruits because i worry about pesticides.

3) meat - non-organic fresh meat....personally organic meat probably tastes better but it's really too expensive on a daily basis and i am not sure if organic frozen meat (no fresh ones in sg i think) is better than non-organic fresh meats?
