I did the same. I bought the Philips model and am very happy. It is a very neat model, the controls are on the back and easy to operate. It cost about $2000. It takes most flash disks. I bought a flash disk and a card reader/writer, loaded as many photos as we had and then taught (tried to) my father how to load more as we send more to him. He is very happy with it and likes to show it off to anybody who visits.

I bought my father's at Fortress, but just today I saw them at Broadway in Causeway Bay. They have a new model with a wooden frame at $1700, and the 'original' at $1600. I think the original is better. It's screen size is about 4x7 picture.

I have seen a few other brands lately, but I still think the Philips is the best, but you will need to decide that yourself. I like the simplicity of use, the screen is very clear/easy to see. It hasn't got any horrible logo on the front, just a clean, smart looking digital frame. The others have the name of the manufacturer on the front or others you can see the compact flash sticking out the top of the frame when you load it.

Have a look at the different models and decide what you like.

Thanks Bob I am with you - nothing worse than giving the manufacturer free advertising
