Hi. I need recommendations on where I can get my hair and make-up done for my wedding day. Nothing too, too expensive, please. I only need a one-time do and make-up. No need for someone to follow me around the whole day like they sometimes do for brides at Chinese weddings.


Also, any recommendations on custom-made shoes?

I read an article about a shop called Shoegirl on Yiu Wa Street in Causeway Bay (one of the side streets near Times Square) which custom make shoes. There's also another upstairs shop near Shoegirl which specializes in custom made wedding shoes - there's a sign on the ground floor and I think it's by appointment only. I haven't tried either though - just something to get you started with.


Alternatively, the shoe shops in Happy Valley on Wongnaichung Road (opposite CCC I think) custom make shoes as well.

Thanks, D. I have been quoted $1,000 for the hair but honestly, it is really just tying my hair up but with a little bit of flair, so thought that is a bit steep. I can understand if there is a lot of fancy handiwork involved... As for make-up: have no idea what the going rate is, but again, I think I am pretty simple. Your thoughts? Oh, and wedding is second week of December. I can send you the specific date...

Hi Kialo, we have a great stylist Rennae from Australia who specialises in Wedding/Formal hair styling and make up. If you come to the salon during the normal opperating hours she charges $1000 for both hair and make up.
